Coalition party chief says will support immunity for Netanyahu if indicted
The leader of a coalition party says that if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reelected in the next Knesset election, his party will support a law that would grant him immunity in case he is charged in one or more of the corruption cases against him, Channel 10 reports.
According to the report, the unnamed minister explains that toppling Netanyahu’s government after the election would be a “distortion of the voters’ wishes,” since they are already aware of the suspicions against the premier.
He also says his party wouldn’t want to strengthen another senior Likud member, who would replace Netanyahu, ahead of the elections that would follow.
