EU envoy says US ‘remains crucial’ to peace process
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe EU’s ambassador to Israel says the US “remains crucial” to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Emanuele Giaufret makes the remark at a meeting attended by US peace envoy Jason Greenblatt and officials from a number of Western countries, ahead of a meeting of donor countries to the Palestinians in Brussels Wednesday.
Giaufret says the EU is working to achieve a two-state solution along with the US, the Middle East Quartet, Norway and unnamed Arab countries.
PA President Mahmoud Abbas said last month following Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital that the US was no longer an honest broker of peace talks.
