High Court extends freeze of Haredi draft dodger law until it issues a final ruling

The High Court of Justice issues an interim order extending the freeze it previously imposed on the implementation of a law barring the arrest of Haredi draft dodgers for a seven-month period.
The court says the freeze will remain in place pending a further decision, and says that it will issue a final ruling “soon.”
The interim order follows a High Court hearing earlier today on petitions against the legislation, during which the justices did not challenge the arguments of the petitioners, Knesset lawyers, or the attorney general that the legislation is discriminatory, was passed in violation of Knesset procedure, and should therefore be struck down.
The government boycotted the hearing and was not represented.
