Jordan’s King Abdullah calls Abbas to urge calm
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleJordan’s King Abdullah II appears to be calling on the Palestinian Authority to work to calm tensions over the Temple Mount, just hours after PA President Mahmoud Abbas called on leaders of his Fatah faction to escalate protests over the holy site planned for Friday.
In a phone call, the two leaders “stressed the importance of continuing coordination to bring the situation back to what it was before the outbreak of the crisis and ensure that the historical and legal status in the Holy Mosque is respected,” according to a statement carried by the official Petra news agency.
