The Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee restarts its discussion on constraining judicial review over the “reasonableness” of elected officials’ decisions.
In the backdrop to this fourth hearing on the controversial bill is the Israel Defense Force’s newly launched Operation Bayit Vegan, ongoing in the West Bank city of Jenin.
“Stop this race. This isn’t the appropriate day to hold the discussion,” says Yesh Atid lawmaker Karine Elharrar.
“What’s so urgent?” Elharrar continues.
Likud MK Tally Gotliv interrupts another opposition lawmaker making the same point, saying that anti-judicial overhaul demonstrators should “postpone the protests at Ben Gurion Airport.”
