Attending a party held by Egypt’s Israel ambassador, Netanyahu hails recent attempts by Egyptian President President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi to jump start the stalled peace process with the Palestinians.
“We welcome the efforts by Sissi to advance peace and we welcome the effort to incorporate other Arab states in this effort as a broader peace between all the peoples of the Middle East,” Netanyahu says.
He congratulates the Egyptian people on their Revolution Day holiday, calling it a day when they celebrate their “proud, unsurpassed history, rich culture [and] many accomplishments.”
The 1979 peace treaty between the two countries shows that peace “between Arabs and Israelis and is possible and sustainable,” the PM says.
“I’m proud that our two nations are at peace for nearly four decades. Through storms, turbulences, earthquakes we have remained in peace and we shall remain in peace. It is the foundation of our national vision and our vision for the region and beyond,” he says.
