Qatar says cargo ship in its territorial waters was targeted by drone
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleQatar’s Ministry of Defense says a commercial cargo vessel in the country’s territorial waters, northeast of its Mesaieed Port and coming from Abu Dhabi, was targeted by a drone earlier today.
The attack resulted in a limited fire onboard the vessel, with no reported injuries, the ministry says, adding that the vessel continued its journey toward Mesaieed Port after the fire was brought under control.
The incident comes amid continuing tensions over Iran’s blockade of the Strat of Hormuz in the Gulf amid the US-Israeli war with Iran, which has been observing a truce for more than a month.
