White House says neither settlement building nor freeze will bring peace

The White House says that “unrestrained” Israeli settlement building in the West Bank will not facilitate a peace agreement with the Palestinians.

In the same statement, the White House also says that calls for a freeze on Israeli construction in the Wrest Bank has also not advanced regional peace efforts.

“President Trump has publicly and privately expressed his concerns regarding settlements and the Administration has made clear that unrestrained settlement activity does not advance the prospect for peace,” the statement says. “At the same time the Administration recognizes that past demands for a settlement freeze have not helped advance peace talks.”
