The environmentalist Green party on Monday released a pre-elections ad video titled “The nation’s elected leaders fart on Rothschild” that portrays people posing as senior politicians thunderously passing gas on one of Tel Aviv’s swankiest boulevards.
The trendy street was the focal point of the summer 2011 social justice protests.
In the video, people wearing masks bearing the visages of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Labor Party leader Shelly Yachimovich, and Yisrael Beytenu head Avigdor Liberman appear to fart at passersby in a cafe, on the sidewalk and on public benches.
The video concludes with the caption: “When everyone continues to pollute the air, only the Greens fight air pollution.”
In a statement announcing the video, the Greens — not to be confused with the pot-toking Green Leaf party — said the video was meant to show how Netanyahu, Liberman and Yachimovich “shamelessly pollute the environment.”

The party was mulling the option of airing the clip during the pre-election TV airtime allotted it, the statement said.
