Here’s a different kind of 40th birthday bash. Israeli actress Noa Tishby — also a Hollywood producer and showrunner who first sold the Israeli-made “In Treatment” into the US market — celebrated her 40th last week with a panel of big-name speakers discussing Zionism and Judaism.
“It’s my fortieth birthday and I decided to host an event with content,” Tishby wrote on Instagram of the Tel Aviv gathering. “A panel and discussion about Zionism, Judaism, Israel and the future. Today, especially, it’s so important that we continue to talk to one another and even more importantly to listen to one another.”
Tishby, who reportedly taught Hebrew catchphrases to Mick Jagger for last summer’s Rolling Stones concert in Tel Aviv, gathered quite the guest list, as her post made clear:
“Thank you to (Justice Minister) Ayelet Shaked, (Yesh Atid leader) Yair Lapid, (ex-MK) Dalia Rabin, (Reut Institute founder) Gidi Grinstein and (daughter of the late Sephardi Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef) Rabbanit Adina Bar Shalom for the inspiring conversation… Good week to us all and peace, amen,” wrote Tishby.
Tishby, who divides her time between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv, is pregnant with her first child, with her non-Jewish partner.
“We figured that part out right away,” Tishby told a Guy Pines reporter, noting that since she is Jewish, her child will be Jewish.
Tishby is currently starring in “Dig,” the USA Network series that was partially filmed in Israel last summer.
