A passenger aircraft with 70 people onboard made an emergency landing Sunday at Eilat Airport, after smoke rose from one of its engines. No one was injured in the incident.

An Arkia Israel Airlines flight was on its way from Tel Aviv to Eilat as pilots noticed an indicator lamp flashing, signaling overheating in the engine. They managed to land the plane safely and allowed passengers to disembark.

According to an Arkia spokesperson, “the captain followed procedures and declared a state of emergency. A few seconds later the indicator light went out, the plane landed and the passengers were safe. The aircraft is currently undergoing examination.”
