Punk rocker and new Broadway star to perform at 20th Piano Festival

Israeli musicians hit the keys at the 20th Piano Festival, performing on a selection of Tel Aviv stages from October 20-27, with 300 artists, musicians, singers, dancers and actors participating in this year’s lineup.

The festival is one of Tel Aviv’s best, featuring 53 events that present a mix of 250 Israeli performers, from rock ‘n roll crooners and hip-hop singers, to classical, ethnic and Mediterranean balladeers.

With solo and duet performances, acoustic arrangements and broader shows that include orchestras, the festival is more intimate in nature.

Performers have the freedom to try different musical arrangements and experiment with different sounds and styles, working with other musicians, young and old, in a way that differs from usual stage events.

This year’s performers include Shlomi Shaban with the Jerusalem Camerata and guest punk rocker Rami Fortis, cousins Eviatar and Ehud Banai, Yoni Rechter, Danny Sanderson in an acoustic performance with Tom Aaron, new-to-Broadway star Shiri Maimon, Berry Sakharov, Shai Tsabari and Mark Eliyahu, Daniella Spektor, and a host of less well-known musicians and performers, such as Maya Isacowitz, spoken word artist Jimbo J and Phototaxis Neverland.

Tickets can be purchased through Zappa, and range in price. Buy early, as these tickets get sold out quickly.

There will also be free events outside two of the main venues, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, on the evenings of the performances.
