Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter has authorized NIS 30 million for the fortification of schools between 7 and 15 kilometers away from the Gaza Strip. That band of territory has proved to be within range of rocket fire that has escalated in recent days.

The decision was announced Tuesday, following a request from the IDF. The funds will serve primarily schools in the Eshkol and Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Councils.
