Stormy weather washed several dozen explosive fuses up onto beaches in Tel Aviv and Herzliya on Saturday, police said warning the public to exercise caution.

Police told the public to keep away, warning that “any touch could cause an explosion.” Police appealed to the public to report the location of any of the explosive devices that they found.

Large numbers of police sappers were working to locate the undetonated fuses, and several dozen had already been located by Saturday morning, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear how they were released or from where. Police said that they had been spotted from the Cliff Beach in Herzliya to Mandarin Hotel Beach in Tel Aviv

The wintry weather also led to several road closures as residents of northern Israel on Saturday woke up to a blanket of snow, while flooding was reported in the southern Negev Desert.

Snowfall that began Friday night covered several communities in the Golan Heights and the Galilee. Local authorities said 15 cm of snow was recorded at the Golani Junction, while Tsfat saw about 10 cm of snow.

The inclement weather caused a number of road closures in the Golan Heights. Route 90 near the Dead Sea in the south was closed due to flash floods. The Mount Hermon Ski Center was also closed for the weekend due to closed roads and poor visibility.

The Israel Nature and Parks Authority announced Saturday it was shutting several national parks in the north and around Jerusalem due to the weather.

The stormy conditions are expected to continue through next week, with rain, hail and snow predicted in high-elevation areas. Forecasters said there was even the chance of some snow in Jerusalem and the surrounding central hills.

Meteorologists said to expect high winds and rain across the country on Saturday, and snow in the Golan, Galilee and central hills.

On Saturday evening, temperatures could drop as low at 2°C in Jerusalem, 8°C in Tel Aviv, 6°C in Haifa, 7°C in Beersheba and a freezing, snowy -6°C at Mt. Hermon.
