Terror victim laid to rest, after losing 3-week fight to survive

Israeli terror victim Genadi Kaufman was laid to rest in Hebron on Wednesday evening, hours after he succumbed to wounds sustained in a Palestinian terror attack in the West Bank city three weeks ago.
Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein both joined the funeral procession for the 40-year-old, which set out from the Tomb of the Patriarchs in the city where he was attacked.
Kaufman died in Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem on Wednesday morning. The hospital announced his death “with great sorrow.”
A spokeswoman said: “Despite a battle by hospital doctors for three and a half weeks, [Kaufman] did not survive the very serious wounds he suffered.”

Kaufman was a resident of the settlement of Kiryat Arba, adjacent to Hebron, and a father of two. He was the 25th fatality in the wave of Palestinian attacks since October.
Kaufman’s attacker was shot dead by security forces at the scene, after stabbing his victim multiple times in the chest and critically wounding him.
Hebron has been a flashpoint in the recent wave of Palestinian stabbing, shooting and vehicular attacks that has swept the country since October.
The Tomb of the Patriarchs, shared by Jews and Muslims who both revere it as the final resting place of the biblical patriarch Abraham and his kin, has been a particular source of tension in the city.
