Three people were injured by gunfire in central Zurich on Monday, police said, with local media reporting that the incident occurred in a Muslim prayer hall near the city’s railway station.
“I can only confirm that there was a shooting,” a spokeswoman for Zurich police said.
Swiss media said the three wounded people, all adults, were found in the street where the prayer hall is located. Police said it is unclear whether the attack had to do anything with the location.
A Zurich police official said police were swarming to the scene in pursuit of the gunman who remained at large.
Attacks by armed gunmen are rare in Switzerland.
