Ruth Maman hit during outing near Jordanian border

A woman was lightly injured Saturday at the Ganei Huga water park near the Beit She’an Valley after she was hit in the head by a stray bullet.

Ruth Maman, 57, who was on vacation with her family, complained she felt a sudden, sharp blow to the back of her neck, and was subsequently taken to the Haemek Medical Center in Afula for treatment.

A scan later revealed that a small bullet was lodged beneath Maman’s skin.

“We initially thought that the injury was caused by a large rock,” Maman’s daughter said, according to the NRG news site. “When we got to the hospital, a CAT scan revealed the bullet.”

Doctors at the medical center surgically removed the bullet a short while later.

“She was admitted and they struggled to take out the bullet, and thank God it did not hit the brain, but it was very close to her scalp,” Maman’s daughter added.

Beit She’an police launched an investigation into the incident, and were looking into the possibility that the bullet had been fired from across the Jordanian border.
