Lee Korzits lost valuable points on Sunday, but remained second overall in the Olympic windsurfing standings. Later in the day Alex Shatilov will compete in the finals of the men’s floor exercise.
Korzits entered the day in second place overall, and managed to keep that place after the ninth race. She finished the 10th races — the last before the medal’s race — in 11th place.
Before the medal race on Tuesday, Israel’s windsurfer was 14 points behind Marina Alabau of Spain. Korzits was tied for second with Olha Maslivets of Ukraine, one point above fourth place.
On Tuesday the reigning world champion will try to win her first Olympic medal.
Seven Israeli athletes were set to compete on Sunday, including Alex Shatilov who hopes to win Israel’s first ever Olympic medal in gymnastics.
