An El Al Israel Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Munich was forced to make an emergency landing in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia Thursday after a passenger began attacking crew members and threatening other travelers.
The flight’s captain decided to touch down in Sofia Airport after the passenger reportedly attacked the head flight attendant. The passenger also attempted to hurt several other people on the aircraft, the Walla news site reported.
No details were given about the passenger’s identity.
After landing, the passenger was taken off the plane and transferred to a local police station. The El Al flight was expected to continue to its original destination a short while later.
El Al representatives said they would launch an investigation into the incident, Army Radio reported.
