Former prime minister Yitzhak Shamir will be laid to rest among the nation’s great leaders on Mount Herzl on Monday following a funeral procession from the Knesset.
The public will be allowed to pay their respects at Shamir’s coffin, which will be placed in the Knesset plaza on Monday, Reuven Rivlin, the Knesset’s speaker, said on Saturday night. After that, the procession will depart for the national cemetery.
Shamir died Saturday night at 96 after suffering from Alzheimer’s for several years. He was Israel’s seventh prime minister.
