New students at a Palestinian university were greeted earlier this week by a banner praising Palestinian figures responsible for organizing terror attacks against Israelis as “heroes.”
The banner, which was hung at a reception for new students at the Dura branch of Al-Quds Open University, featured photos of the founders of a number of terror groups, such as Hamas’s Ahmed Yassin, Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Fathi Shiqaqi, and Abu Ali Mustafa of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the watchdog group Palestinian Media Watch said.
It also had pictures of former Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat and his deputy Abu Jihad, also known as Khalid al-Wazir, who was responsible for organizing attacks that according to PA daily Al-Ayyam killed at least 125 Israelis.
In addition, the banner had a picture of Salah Khalaf, the founder of Black September, which was responsible for murdering 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics, among other attacks.
Among the speakers at the event was Fatah official Jamal Muhaisen, who has questioned Israel’s right to exist and praised terror attacks against Israelis, according to Palestinian Media Watch, which reported on the event at the university.
