A fire broke out on Saturday inside the Bnai Zion Medical Center in the northern city of Haifa, the fire service said, adding that there were no immediate reports of injury.

The blaze apparently started in the 4th floor pharmacy of the building. Six fire teams were sent to extinguish the blaze.

The flames were brought under control, but it was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

Rescue workers were conducting searches in the building, trying to make sure smoke did not penetrate the other hospital wings, Israel Radio reported.

Haifa was severely hit last month in the wave of wildfires that spread across the country. Fire service officials said 1,773 fires were put out between November 18 and 26. Around 600 homes were destroyed in Haifa alone.

Officials say many of those fires were caused by arsonists taking advantage of the unusually dry and windy conditions.
