Keshet’s romantic comedy “Save the Date” (Bekarov Etzli) has been greenlit for a second season and will debut on May 25 on Netflix Israel.

The lighthearted romcom is being developed for the Greek, Cypriot and German markets, and it has been sold to 12 other territories, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, with numerous talks ongoing elsewhere.

“Save the Date,” created by Yoav Tsafir, Tmira Yardeni, Tamara Salem and Tamar Marom, and produced by Tedy Productions with Reisdor for Keshet 12, is about wedding planner Dassy, who suddenly finds herself single.

After being anointed by her grandmother’s love spell, Dassy unexpectedly juggles four men from her past and present.

“Dancing with the Stars” Israel-winner Adi Havshush stars as Dassy, alongside an Israeli cast that includes Tomer Capone (“The Boys,” “When Heroes Fly”).

The Greek adaptation of “Save the Date” is currently in development by the FTA TV channel in Greece, while Keshet Germany is developing the romcom series for the German TV market.

“‘Save the Date’ hits all the right notes, and it’s a perfect example of how the genre can become relevant not only for streamers but also for free-to-air audiences,” said Christos Kompos, Alpha TV’s program director. “We fell in love with Dassy’s story right from the start. We are looking forward to creating our own version of it.”

Karni Ziv, Keshet 12’s Head of Comedy and Drama, said that the Israeli audience generally loves new content, but “Save the Date” star Havshush generated buzz with their audience, leading to the second season development, with six episodes written by Ori Gross.
