Clinton says IS must be defeated, vows to tackle ‘lone wolf’ attackers

Hillary Clinton says the deadly shooting in Orlando shows that the Islamic State cannot be contained but must be defeated. She says the country faces a “twisted ideology and a poisoned psychology” that inspires the so-called “lone wolf,” and vows to make identifying and prosecuting these types of attackers a top priority.

Speaking in Cleveland, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee says America’s biggest mass killing breaks the nation’s collective heart, tears at the country’s sense of security and infuriates Americans.

She says the attack is “a moment when all Americans need to stand together,” and calls on the US to attack home-grown terrorism with “clear eyes” and “steady hands.”
