Egyptian prosecutor approves release of ex-president Mubarak
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAn Egyptian prosecutor allows for Hosni Mubarak to be released, his lawyer says, after an appeals court acquitted the former president of involvement in the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising.
“He can go home now when the doctors decide he is able to,” Farid al-Deeb says, adding that Mubarak is banned from leaving Egypt pending an ongoing graft investigation.
Mubarak has been in detention at a military hospital in Cairo.
