Five taken to hospital in serious condition after stands collapse

Magen David Adom says 54 people have been evacuated to hospitals, including five in serious condition and four with moderate injuries, after the bleacher collapse in Givat Ze’ev.

Media reports indicate that the synagogue with the collapsed bleacher was a new building belonging to the Karlin Hasidic dynasty.

Some reports indicate that community leaders paid extra attention to safety regulations, particularly following the Meron disaster.

Channel 12 news reports, however, that the building was still not complete and may not have been up to code yet.
