The Israel Defense Forces says troops killed “numerous” Hamas terrorists during ground operations in the Gaza Strip over the past day, as well as striking some 300 targets.
The IDF says the targets hit by ground, air and navy forces included anti-tank guided missile and rocket launch positions, tunnel entrances and Hamas military compounds.
It says that during ground operations, troops clashed with terror cells who fired missiles and heavy machine gun fire at the forces.
The IDF says troops killed the members of the cells, and directed the Air Force to carry out strikes amid the fighting.

The military statement did not provide information on any potential new casualties on the Israeli side.
According to the New York Times, troops Monday night appeared to have surrounded Gaza City, closing it off from the north and south but keeping most forces outside the metropolis, in what was described as “a sort of pincer movement.”
