An Israeli man living in the US apparently shot dead his nine-year-old daughter and then fatally shot himself at his home southwest Travis County, Texas.
The murder-suicide was discovered by deputies on Monday when they visited the home after being alerted to the danger by members of the man’s family, the Hebrew media Walla news website reports.
The man’s father, who lives in central Israel, said that his son had sent an email to family telling them of his intention.
“The family alerted police, but to our great regret it was already too late,” the father said and added that he only heard about the tragic end when he received inquiries from media.
The man, 42, who was not named in Israeli media, was reportedly going through a divorce and involved in a custody battle over his daughter. The next hearing in the case was scheduled for January. His wife was in Israel at the time of the shooting and seeking to arrange funds to bring her daughter back to the country, Hadashot news reported.
