Knesset rejects opposition bill for non-Orthodox prayer at Western Wall
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Knesset plenum rejects a bill proposed by Zionist Union MK Nachman Shai that would enshrining in law plans to build a non-Orthodox prayer section at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
“This is nothing is new. The government is choosing a tactic of deferring and suspending in order not to deal with the Western Wall deal,” the opposition lawmaker says.
Shai’s bill was introduced earlier today move aimed at countering a government decision to suspend a 2016 agreement with Liberal Jewish movements that would establish an area for pluralistic worship at the holy site.
