Lod psychologist fired for joyful post on soldier deaths

An Arab worker at the Lod municipality has been fired for a Facebook post in which she expressed joy at the deaths of Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip, Channel 10 reports.

The woman, a psychologist who worked in the municipality’s education branch, responded to a post on the deaths of 13 soldiers in fighting Sunday, writing: “LOL, 13. May there be many more, amen.”

Lod Mayor Yair Revivo says he decided to fire the worker because the post crossed a red line.

Revivo says he understands Israeli Arabs’ feelings of kinship with residents of Gaza, “but when an Israeli citizen is glad for the deaths of our martyred soldiers, who gave their lives to protect the country and to prevent rockets from flying on Jews and Arabs alike – that we cannot accept.”
