Orban concedes defeat in Hungarian election, calls Magyar to congratulate him
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleHungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban concedes defeat after a “painful” result in today’s elections put Peter Magyar’s center-right Tisza party on course for a parliamentary supermajority, ending Orban’s 16 years in power.
Magyar says in a Facebook post that Orban has congratulated him on his victory.
Preliminary results, with 53.45% of votes counted, project Magyar’s Tisza party winning 136 seats in Hungary’s 199-member parliament, compared to 56 seats for Orban’s Fidesz.
