Threats to female Haredi would-be politicians probed
The State Attorney’s office is examining whether comments by several ultra-Orthodox rabbis warning Haredi women against running for the Knesset in the coming election constitute criminal acts.
Deputy State Attorney Dina Silber asks Central Election Committee head Salim Jubran to pass to the attorney’s office information on such comments so that they can be examined.
Silber says threatening ultra-Orthodox women in an effort to prevent them from running for office is unacceptable, according to Israel Radio.
Jubran says that if an appeal is submitted to him describing incidents similar to what Silber describes in her letter to him, he will not hesitate to act on his authority as head of the committee.
