Transport minister plans train to West Bank settlements
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleTransport minister Yisrael Katz plans to extend the Jerusalem light rail system to several communities around the city, including some Jerusalem neighborhoods over the Green Line and West Bank settlements.
Katz says he wants four new lines of the rail system to reach Ma’aleh Adumim, Adam, Givat Ze’ev and the Qalandiya crossing.
The move is likely to draw international criticism, but Katz says this will not deter him.
“There will be those who will come and say we need to make an artificial divider for those residents who live over what was called the Green Line, he says.
“We obviously don’t accept this,” he says.
