The Days of Culture program sponsored by Mifal HaPayis, the Culture and Sport Ministry and the Israeli Cultural Institute Forum could not have come at a better time.

For three days — December 25, 26 and 27 — 400 plays, concerts, performances, readings, screenings, viewings and events will be taking place at 120 cultural spaces throughout the country. The best part? Tickets are free or cost up to NIS 20, available through the Mifal Hapayis website.

The concept of the event is to support the wide range of Israeli culture and its artists, said Uzi Dayan, chairman of Mifal Hapayis, the national lottery organization, which supports education, recreation and the arts. He hopes to make it an annual event.

Museums, cultural institutions, artists, musicians, directors, singers, actors, writers and poets are taking part in the events, which include:

Boaz Sharabi and the Andalusian Orchestra in Migdal Haemek

A reading by Amos Oz in Kibbutz Yifat

Macbeth at the Cameri Theater

Dancer Renana Raz in Ashdod

Screening and discussion with the director of “Bethlehem” at Dimona Cinematheque
