Police kill suspect fleeing scene of Jaffa shooting

Officers open fire on assailants attempting to escape crime scene on mopeds; one other injured by police gunshots

Police on Saturday shot and killed a man fleeing the scene of a shooting in the port city of Jaffa.

In a statement, police also said another man was injured after being shot by officers responding to the scene on Yefet St.

Officers opened fire on the two men after they attempted to flee the scene of the shooting on mopeds, the statement said.

After being shot, the wounded man was evacuated to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Channel 10 reported the two men also shot at police during the chase.

The two men were both residents of Jaffa, according to the Ynet news site.

Police said an investigation into the incident has been opened.
