Popular for Purim: Agent Y

The spy played by starlet Yael Bar Zohar is what all the little girls want to be this year — slim, tall and clothed in blue satin

Sure, the clear front-runners are Spider-Man, the Disney princesses and Barbie, according to figures from Toys ‘R’ Us for kids’ Purim costumes. But the tykes are also loyal to their local television and stage characters, including Yuval Hamevulbal, Little Michal and the stars of Festigal, the annual musical that takes place during Hannukah and stars famous Israeli actors.

Agent Y, played by Yael Bar Zohar, the star of last year’s Spy Festigal — a story of secret agents, missions and gadgets — is one of the top-selling costumes this Purim, Israel Radio reported Wednesday, with girls choosing to outfit themselves in her royal blue, silver and black satin jumpsuit, including black mesh sleeves but minus the black stilettos she wore onstage. There’s also the popular Beta Babe (a silvery white and black one-piece, worn by Dana Frieder) or Captain Gadget (played by Tal Musri), but that’s for boys.

Jumpsuits and silver stripes: not necessarily what Esther and Mordechai were wearing, but then again, it’s all about the heroes of the day.
