Police said Sunday they had arrested a resident of the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan over the weekend on suspicion of vandalism, making threats, and property damage for spray-painting swastikas in the city.

Police said an expedited investigation was opened into the 34-year-old man after a number of complaints were received late last month of three separate swastikas spray-painted onto cars.

Reports were also received of mezuzahs torn off doors, a burned Israeli flag and graffiti that said “Allahu akbar” — God is great in Arabic — police said.

Police said officers took a number of actions to identity and track down the suspect, including undercover operations.

The suspect was brought before the Tel Aviv’s Magistrate Court, which released him to house arrest, police said.
