Woman suspected of killing three of her children

Police arrest a 26-year-old Rahat resident after she allegedly knifed to death three of her offspring, aged 8, 4 and 1 month

A 26-year-old Rahat women was arrested on suspicion of killing three of her children, police announced on Wednesday.

The suspect allegedly used a knife to murder her children, ages 8, 4 and 1 month, leaving another 1-year-old child lightly injured. The surviving child was taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for treatment.

The woman resides in the Bedouin town in the Negev, and was known to welfare authorities but had no prior record of violent behavior.

The police on Thursday will request the Beersheba magistrate court to extend the suspect’s detention.
