A 40-year-old resident of the Sharon area was arrested for posing as an underage girl and persuading hundreds of teenage and younger girls to send him pictures of themselves engaged in sexual acts, Army Radio reported Monday evening.

The man, who was apparently arrested as the result of a complaint made against him by a Modi’in resident who suspected his daughter was having an online relationship with an adult posing as a minor, is reported to have confessed.

The presiding judge in the case acceded to the man’s attorney’s request not to publish his name. According to Ynet, the man is a vice-president of a high-tech company and father of three with no criminal record.

Ynet also reported that, following his arrest, the suspect attempted to take his own life; he was then taken by police for psychological evaluation, where it was determined that he may try to kill himself again.
