Monday’s results; Tuesday’s schedule

Monday was a relatively relaxed day for Israel at the Olympics, with only four athletes competing. On Tuesday Israel’s last best hope, Lee Korzits, will try to windsurf to victory… or at least a medal.

The men’s 470 duo of Eran Sela and Gideon Kliger were ranked 11th after eight races Monday. With two races left, the two’s medal chances were very slim.

Synchronized swimmers Anastasia Gloushko and Inna Yoffe finished their qualifying rounds in 17th place. The two will most likely retire after they return from what has been their third Olympic performance.

Tuesday, August 7

On Tuesday, Korzits will bid to hold onto second place or go one better. If the windsurfer fails to make the podium, London will most likely mark the first time since the ’92 Barcelona Games that the blue and white return from the Olympics without a single medal.

Four other Israeli sailors will compete in the waters around Weymouth, as both the men and women pilot their 470s in the bay.

• Sailing: Gil Cohen and Vered Buskila will enter races 7 and 8, while Gideon Kliger and Eran Sela will take part in their final placement races (9 and 10). All four will sail between 12-5:50pm.
• Finals: Lee Korzits (sailing, RS:X), 2pm.
