Malfunction in ventilation system causes two passengers, 11 crew members to fall ill, need medical assistance

A US Airways plane flying from Tel Aviv to Philadelphia made an emergency landing in Rome on Saturday after two passengers and 11 crew members fell ill, Italian media reported.
The plane landed at Fiumicino Airport in the Italian capital and requested medical assistance for 13 people suffering from red eyes and vomiting.
The passengers and crew affected were checked by airport emergency doctors before being taken to the G.B Grassi di Ostia hospital near Rome.
A malfunction in the Airbus A330’s ventilation system could be to blame, the reports said.
A spokesman for US Airways said the non-ill passengers were re-booked on alternate flights to their destination, Ynet reported.
