3 killed as truck overturns in southern Israel, hitting several cars

At least three people were killed Tuesday in major crash involving a truck and cars on a highway in southern Israel.
The semitrailer truck flipped over on Route 3703 near the southern town of Kiryat Malachi, damaging a number of vehicles and crushing a car it landed on.
Paramedics declared the deaths of three people at the scene, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.
The three were later named as Tzipi Shimoni, a mother of 10 from Sde Uzziah; Fantansh Ovnah, a mother of eight from Kiryat Malachi, and Matanya Ayoubi, a father of three from Kiryat Shmuel.
Both Shimoni and Ayoubi were parents to infants born in the last two months, Ynet reported.
Another six people wounded in the crash were taken to hospitals, including a man in his 60s in critical condition. Magen David Adom said the other five — three women in their 60s and two men in their 20s — were moderately injured.
Police closed part of Route 3703 following the crash as an investigation was opened.
Earlier Tuesday, a woman was killed when she crashed on a highway near Beersheba.
She was identified as Ortal Lin Cohen, a 35-year-old mother of two from Ofakim.
