Host of the local version of ‘American Idol’ collapses during checkup at clinic

Israeli “American Idol” television host and celebrity Zvika Hadar on Wednesday was recovering in hospital after suffering a life-threatening cardiac arrest.

The 46-year-old presenter was at a clinic undergoing a cardiology examination when he had a heart seizure. Dr. Hana Tamir, who was examining Hadar at the time, resuscitated him and managed to regain a pulse.

Hadar was hospitalized at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where he was undergoing further treatment.

Two months ago Hadar underwent a catheterization procedure after feeling unwell.

Hadar, an actor and comedian, is a familiar face on Israeli television and recently completed his tenth season as the host of “Kochav Nolad,” the local version of “American Idol.”
