Keshet sells British media firm, will put profits into new content

Israeli production company plans to build on successful remakes and focus on its crime drama “Rough Diamonds’ for Netflix

Keshet International, known for producing television series such as “False Flag” and “When Heroes Fly,” has sold its majority stake of in British Greenbird Media to the Scottish media group STV.

The Israeli studio said it will invest the profits from its sale of 60% of the British firm into more scripted content and distribution.

Keshet International said it will build on recent production successes such as Keshet UK’s “Suspicion,” which starts Uma Thurman and is a remake of “False Flag, and “When Heroes Fly” remake “Echo 3.” Both series are being produced for Apple TV+.

Keshet also said it will focus on its eight-part crime drama “Rough Diamonds” for Netflix and “A Small Light,” co-produced with ABC Signature for NatGeo and Disney+.

Keren Shahar, CEO of Keshet International, said the five-year partnership with Greenbird was a great investment for Keshet International and Greenbird’s new partnership with STV will create “one great British institution.”

The UK will continue to be a key focus for Keshet International, which recently appointed Christine Healy as COO of Keshet UK.

Keshet International purchased its majority stake in Greenbird from BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios) in 2018. Scottish media group STV acquired 100% of Greenbird for a total value of 23 million British pounds.
