34 Kurdish rebels killed in Turkish airstrikes

Thirty-four fighters from the Kurdish underground were killed in airstrikes carried out by the Turkish military in northern Iraq, Reuters reports.

Turkey has been conducting airstrikes in the southeastern part of Turkey and northern Iraq for about a month, in retaliation for what it calls attacks by extremist Kurdish fighters against Turkish security forces.

On Saturday, the military said it killed 29 Kurdish rebels.
