Academy that organized fatal hike gets new director; will reopen in 2019
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Bnei Zion pre-military academy, 10 of whose students were killed in a flash flood in April, announces the hiring of a new director.
Shira Etting will replace Yuval Kahan, who police recommended last month be indicted for negligent homicide for allegedly not taking the advice of an Air Force weather forecaster, who warned him the morning of the trip that weather conditions were not suitable for hiking.
Etting is a combat helicopter pilot and a major in the reserves.
She said that the academy will reopen in the fall of 2019 after it takes a year off to regroup from the recent tragedy.
