For 5th straight week, Haredim picket Jerusalem cafe for opening on Shabbat

Dozens of Haredi men and boys protest outside a Jerusalem cafe for being open on the Sabbath.

Footage published by Hebrew media shows police officers confronting some of the protesters outside central Jerusalem’s Agripas Street.

It’s the fifth straight week that Haredi men have picketed the recently opened cafe, which is one of the few Jerusalem eating establishments to operate on the Jewish day of rest.

Organizers of the protest said this week that they were appealing to more Haredi communities to join today, according to Haredi media.
