Even before taking office, I made clear that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon on my watch. But I’ve also made clear my preference for a peaceful diplomatic resolution of the issue. Not just because of the costs of war, but because a negotiated agreement offered a more effective, durable resolution.”
