PM taps career diplomat as interim Foreign Ministry head

Netanyahu taps career diplomat Yuval Rotem as interim director general of the Foreign Ministry, following the resignation of Dore Gold.

Rotem, who is currently the head of Public Diplomacy Directorate, has spent the past 30 years working at the ministry. He has also previously served as ambassador to Australia and consul general in Los Angeles.

Army Radio says the swift replacement of Gold is down to Netanyahu’s unwillingness to leave the post unfilled for any length of time.
