Lawmakers laud the IDF for discovering and demolishing an apparent Gazan attack tunnel inside Israeli territory earlier in the day.
Education Minister Naftali Bennett, who criticized the military for inadequately confronting the issue of tunnels before and during the 2014 Gaza war, applauds the military for recognizing the risk they pose.
“The IDF has learned from Operation Protective Edge” — the Israeli moniker for the conflict — “and is using its intelligence, technology, engineering and operational abilities to stop such attempts and ensure the security of those living near Gaza,” Bennett says.
Yesh Atid MK Haim Jelin, who started his political career in the local council near the Gaza border, says he “commends the IDF for its important and precise work against a tunnel that threatened residents of the area around [the Strip].”
